The Portuguese Language and Brazilian Culture for Foreigners Program supports students interested in learning Portuguese as a second language and getting to know more about the Brazilian Culture, especially Santa Catarina and its natural beauty.

The CLPCB  goes beyond classroom. Throughout the program, students participate in assorted learning  activities such as excursions, directed researches, courses, events among other activities that comprise the country culture and language knowledge.

Students attend classes with qualified teachers, both to achieve Portuguese language proficiency as learning  technical linguistic terms used in different  fields of knowledge.

Target audience

The program supports students interested in learning Portuguese as a second language.

For regular admission (short or long-term program) is imperative that participants have a student visa (study or research). The visa may be obtained from the Brazilian Embassy, in your country of origin.

Enrollment fee payment must be made before the student's arrival in Brazil through international bank transfer. The course cost payment will occur in person when you arrive at Unisul.

Placement tests

Online Proficiency tests are offered as a means of placement for a variety of course levels. By enrolling the program, students are submitted both to an on-line placement test as to a presential test to evaluate more precisely their language skills; the examination will help estimate knowledge and place the student in the most appropriate course level.

Course levels

The Course of Portuguese and Brazilian Culture is offered in three levels:

Beginner

To enable the knowledge of a minimum elementary vocabulary for the day-by-day survival, in social situations, as well as the use of simplified texts.

Intermediate

To enable the knowledge of a vocabulary that embraces social an professional daily matters or specifics areas of interest.To develop the comprehension and production of more complex texts, in official standard language.

Advanced

To enable fluent interaction with the cultural, professional and social community in the appropriate registers. To develop the production and comprehension of more elaborated and technical texts.
